This "42 style" model is made with East Indian rosewood back and sides, select spruce top and prewar scalloped bracing. It has grained ivoroid binding with select abalone shell pieces, sandwiched by black/white/black purfling, inlaid around the top border and fretboard extension. It also has a rosette of select abalone and black/white purfling. Other features include a grained ivoroid bound fingerboard and double bound slotted peghead, gloss-finished mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge, a fancy, multi-colored "chevron" backstrip and a tortoise style pickguard. There is a rosewood peghead overlay with a mother-of-pearl Collings logo, traditional "42 style" snowflake fretboard inlays and gold Waverly slot-head tuners. *This particular guitar features Brazilian rosewood back and sides and Waverly 3-on-a plate, engraved, bronze tuners with ivoroid knobs.
