Would you rather see the real thing in person? We offer shop tours most Fridays starting at 3:30pm. The tour generally lasts 60 - 90 minutes, depending on the size of the group. Space is limited, so we ask that you please call in advance to reserve your tour. Because you'll be touring our factory during working hours, tour attendees will be supplied with protective shop glasses. No sandals or open-toe shoes are allowed, thanks for helping us ensure your safety.
Each Collings mandolin and mandola calls for some of our most intricate instrument-making techniques. The complexity of its small arch-top shape, and features like the florentine scroll on our MF models demand high degrees of skill and consistency with each step. Each spruce top and maple back is hand-voiced and shaped and each neck is hand-set with the correct back-angle to meet our ebony floating bridge. Fingerboards are fretted and affixed, and each instrument is completed with our inlay and binding designs before it moves on to finish.
