Electric Guitar Buffing
The smooth glassy finish we are all used to seeing on finished instruments is achieved through an exacting hand sanding process. Each finish we offer will come from the finishing department with a textured finish, many small pits and rises cover the instrument and are a natural result of being sprayed in the air. We lightly sand down these imperfections using several very fine grits of sandpaper over custom block shapes, designed to reach into every small area. Water is used to glide smoothly over every surface, for extremely uniform leveling. After the final hand sanding, instruments are buffed on a cloth wheel using a variety of buffing compounds to achieve a glassy, imperfection free surface. By the time it is done, our finish measures about 5-7 thousandths of an inch thick, allowing for exceptional flexibility and tone.
