03 12-FretWith softer contours and a longer body dimension than our 0 14-Fret model, the 0 12-Fret has a balanced and full tone with slightly more bass and overall volume. First introduced in 1854, the articulate tone and convenient size of the "0" 12-Fret body dimensions have remained popular to this day. Featuring a comfortable short 24 7/8" scale and a wide 2 5/16" string spacing at the bridge, this model is well suited to both finger style and strumming techniques and excels as a recording instrument. Convenient as a travel guitar but with the authoritative tone of a performance instrument, this model is versatile choice for any guitarist.
The custom variation shown on this page features an optional 42-style abalone top border with matching 42-style snowflake inlays and an added torch peghead inlay.
From the starting point of the wood's density and rigidity, each acoustic guitar top is hand selected, evaluated, and carved to its own unique thickness; maximizing the tonal potential of each top.
Each Collings acoustic guitar, from our most affordable model to the highest end, are built with the finest tonewoods available. Each wood is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected by master luthiers here at our shop who pick each component with the whole tonality of the end instrument in mind.
Short Scale Length
A short 24 7/8 inch scale creates a warm note attack and lower tension string feel that lends itself well to a variety of playing styles.
By meticulously hand-sanding between coats, our nitrocellulose lacquer finishes measure between .005 and .007 inches in final thickness, maximizing acoustical response while providing excellent protection and aesthetics.
Premium Waverly open gear tuners offer exceptional tuning stability and smooth reliable operation.
A fully bound neck and peghead, as well as an abalone rosette and gold hardware make 3-style acoustics our most fully appointed base model.
Our 12-fret slot headstock guitars feature a comfortable Modified V neck profile with a 1 13/16 inch nut width and 2 5/16 inch string spacing as standard, making them well suited to fingerstyle playing techniques.
