Baritone 2H

Overview

Baritone 2HThe Collings Baritone utilizes our DS body dimensions to beautifully communicate the extended harmonic range of baritone tuning. With deep yet articulate bass, this baritone acoustic makes for an inspiring tool in any songwriter or recording artist's arsenal and opens up new musical voicings and arrangements to explore. Featuring a 27.5” scale length and comfortable and slim “Modified V” profile, the Collings Baritone makes this distinctive sound available with the easy playability, nuanced tone, and impeccable workmanship that Collings instruments are renowned for.

Body and Definition

Our slope shouldered DS body dimension provides exceptional balance from string to string, creating a tone that is both warm and defined.

Sonic Structure

In order to accommodate the increased string tension of baritone tuning, our bracing design incorporates three tone bars and un-scalloped brace shapes. This allows for increased strength without sacrificing resonance or tonal nuance.

Moving Air

Acoustic guitars with low tunings often seem to lack volume and require a lot of picking energy to get the body vibrating. The Collings Baritone is designed to efficiently transfer string energy to the body, allowing notes to leap off of the guitar with ease and creating a playability and tone that is a joy to interact with.

Secret Weapon

With a variety of popular tunings and an extended sonic register, an acoustic baritone is an exceptional way to open up the sonic possibilities of song arrangements and voicings, as well as the tone of recordings!

Hand Voiced

From the starting point of the wood's density and rigidity, each acoustic guitar top is hand selected, evaluated, and graduated to its own unique thickness; maximizing the tonal potential of each top.

Premium Tonewoods

Each Collings acoustic guitar, from our most affordable model to the highest end, are built with the finest tonewoods available. Each wood is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected by master luthiers here at our shop who pick each component with the whole tonality of the end instrument in mind.

Playability

A combination of exacting PLEK machine leveling and hand fret dressing ensures consistently excellent playability and a silky fret feel.

Finish

By meticulously hand-sanding between coats, our nitrocellulose lacquer finishes measure between .005” and .007” in final thickness, maximizing acoustic response while providing excellent protection and aesthetics.
