I-35With a 15" lower bout and hand-carved solid wood construction, the I-35 is a unique modern tribute to the heritage of the double cutaway semi-hollow electric guitar. The I-35's design pairs a mahogany back and sides with a maple center center block for a tonal response that is complex and quick, with an "airy" character. The I-35's top carve includes high arches and ample re-curve, allowing the best qualities of the solid wood to shine though in its amplified tone. An instrument that is at home in almost any genre, the Collings I-35 has quickly become one of our most popular electric models.
Each Collings I35 is constructed of solid Honduran mahogany and eastern flamed maple that is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected for density and acoustical response by master luthiers here at our shop.
Low-wind Lollar Imperials have a slightly brighter tonality than standards, lending them an exceptional definition and touch response that communicates the harmonic content of the instrument beautifully.
A combination of exacting PLEK machine leveling and hand fret dressing ensures consistently excellent playability and a silky fret feel.
By meticulously hand-sanding between coats, our nitrocellulose lacquer finishes measure between .005 and .007 thousandths in final thickness, maximizing acoustical response while providing excellent protection.
Collings electrics feature Gotoh SG301 tuners and Kluson tune-o-matic bridges and stop tailpieces.
With a fully bound body, mother of pearl dot inlays, and top hat knobs, appointments for a Collings I35 are available in a variety of colors and materials to match your chosen finish.
Each I35 can be finished in a variety of translucent, opaque, or metallic colors in addition to a variety of sunbursts.
